Sangeeth Madurawala (b. 1998, Kurunegala, Sri Lanka) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist whose evocative work weaves intricate tapestries of identity, memory and socio-political narratives through the prism of contemporary collage. His distinctive visual language—a vibrant fusion of abstraction, ex- pressionism, and modern aesthetics—harnesses new media as a luminous conduit for expression, illu- minating the fractures and beauty of human experience.
Madurawala's collage practice serves as a profound alchemical process, reimagining Sri Lanka's post-war history while engaging with the intricate layers of Asian cultural identity. Each piece, meticu- lously crafted, stitches together fragments of collective memory, personal introspection, and surreal reverie, forming a visual ode that resonates with psychological depth and emotional intensity. His works pulse with the weight of history and the ephemerality of the present, inviting viewers into a dia- logue with the unseen residues of contemporary life.
In 2022, Madurawala unveiled his debut solo exhibition, Mawbima, at Paradise Road Galleries—a tran- scendent moment that heralded his ascent as a bold, reflective voice in Sri Lanka's burgeoning art scene.
